Kainoa Keanaaina was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu. Most of his education in grade school was taught in the Hawaiian language. This time of immersed Hawaiian language education is known as Kaiapuni. Keanaina shares his many moʻolelo on what he had experienced and learned in Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Waiau, Hālau Kū Mana, and Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Ānuenue. Keanaaina continues acquiring ʻike studying under cultural groups such as Hālau Nā Mamo o Puʻuanahulu in Hula and Ka Pā o Lonopūhā in lomilomi. He is a current UH Masters Student in the Hawaiʻinuiākea Program and a East-West Center Graduate Fellow. Keanaaina is the new and current Executive Director for Hui Mauli Ola. He thanks and acknowledges everyone that has helped, guided, and nurtured him through all his learning. He shares "I wouldnʻt have been here if it wasnʻt for those that have invested into me."
